Membership

Membership is open to anyone on a low income, living in the Hebden Bridge/Calder Valley area, not only those claiming benefits.

We have taken our definition of low Income from the National Low Pay Unit. They state that the "decency threshold is the equivalent of 68% of the median gross weekly earnings for a full time working male". Anyone earning £277.24 or less per week ( £7.32 per hour full-time) is therefore eligible to join Calder Food Group. This amount is for each adult within a family / group (£554.48 for a two adult family). Don't worry, we are not going to demand to see your wage slip / benefit book before you join, but we do ask you to use your discretion.

The group is here for the use of people who really need it - if you do have buckets of cash we urge you to support local business.

There is an annual membership fee of £4 unwaged or £5 waged. If you can afford to pay more, that would be appreciated. We would prefer it if all adults could join as individual members, but again that is at your discretion.

To join the group, you need to complete a simple membership form / declaration (opens in pop-up window).

Print it off and bring it along to the Canalside Café on a Thursday when we're open and we'll sign you up.
